hi! we're the artists behind the clay collective.
we've been working out of this space since fall 2021, primarily as a space to create our own work. here's a little bit more info about us!
kaisa lindfors
The artist behind sisaret ceramics, kaisa grew up in Gatineau, Quebec before moving out west to be in the mountains. She makes handbuilt, handpainted ceramic work primarily using the technique of pinching to create intimate, textured surfaces. She aims to create pieces that are hopeful, whimsical and thoughtful through the use of colour and by using recognizable imagery and words.
She has a BFA in painting and drawing from concordia university and still likes to paint but mostly on clay these days. She enjoys sliding around on skis or riding her bike or just being a general mountain sports amateur. She is also passionate about sourdough bread, the climate and journaling. She usually plants trees during the summer months.
Andrea Sweetnam
The artist behind Jetfire ceramics, Andrea was born and raised on Saltspring Island on the west coast of BC with her two brothers and dog, Jet.
She has worked for many years as a Pastry Chef while exploring her love for clay. She attended the Kootenay School of Arts Ceramics program to further her interest. Finding that some of the skills she acquired in the kitchen transfer to ceramics she lets it influence her making. She love plates!
Find Andrea enjoying the sun on my bike, cooking, overspending on linen and tending to her little garden when she's not in the studio.
Gabrielle Labbé
The artist behind Monashee Pottery, Gabrielle makes functional pottery for everyday use. She really enjoys eating and drinking out of beautiful pottery and hopes to create that feeling of happiness and wellness with her work.
She moved to BC from Quebec twelve years ago for the beauty of the mountains and stayed for the creative inspiration they bring. She lives in a colourful house with her partner JB and their son, Eliot.
