Membership and open studio use

The Clay Collective offers access to our spacious, naturally lit studio for drop-in use through memberships and punch passes.
Open studio time is a way for people to continue their clay journey independently in the studio. You'll have access to our whole class space with 8 pottery wheels, hand building tables, tools and use of all our glazes.
Our open studio use is for current students (enrolled in a class) or folks who have pottery experience already, here or elsewhere. We require a minimum of one 6-week class before starting drop-ins.
*If you don't yet have any pottery experience there are other ways for you to experience the studio! Please check out our pottery painting page, our 6-week classes or one-night workshops.*
Please read the following carefully before booking!
Each booking is 2 hours and lets you reserve either a wheel or a table spot. Please choose whichever you’ll be using most for that session.
Depending on timing and availability it's possible to stay longer on one booking.
Who Can Join

Glazing & Firing
Bisque firing is included for members and drop-ins.
Glazing is available to all members and drop-ins.
-
If you glaze at our studio, your work must be fired in our kilns.
-
Glaze mixing is time consuming, and the glazes add up in cost. If you choose to use this studio for glazing (and make elsewhere) firing fees for your wares will be slightly higher than those who produce everything here.
Firing Fees
Firing fees are added during the glaze stage to allow for flexibility in where you can make your pieces, or your types of clay. Costs are as follows:
-
Mug size or smaller – $4
-
Medium piece – $6
-
Large piece – $8
Or rent more kiln space
Ensure you have enough work for this kind of firing.
-
$22 – Full shelf (mug height or less)
-
$35 – Half load
-
$65 – Full load
Studio use responsibilities
Drop-in members are responsible for cleaning their area including their wheel, table use, tools and mopping their area of the floor.
Drop-in members are responsible for monitoring their pieces through the drying process and will be able to pop in during opening hours to ensure they are well cared for during the process!
Please reach out with any questions you have about the independent studio use!
Dropping In
Don't feel like booking online? Take a look at the schedule and literally just drop in! This can also make the hours more flexible. This does not guarantee you a spot but there's lots of room in the studio and this usually shouldn't be a problem. (except maybe around Christmas...)
